The Baruch men’s and women’s basketball teams were both victorious on Wednesday night in defeating the City College of New York in "The Battle of Lexington".

With the victories, both basketball teams remain undefeated in their respective conference standings. The men improve to 18-4 overall and 10-0 in CUNYAC, while the women are 16-5 and 10-0 in CUNYAC.

In addition, despite three conference games remaining on the regular season schedule, the Bearcats have already clinched one of the top four spots in the standings and will each host a CUNYAC quarterfinal contest in the ARC Arena.

The women’s quarterfinal (seeding TBA) is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, while the men (seeding TBA) play on Sunday, February 22. Times are to be announced.

The women’s contest started slow, but the Bearcats eventually pulled away for the 72-58 victory. Karlee Whipple led the way with a team-high 20 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Christina Kelly had a solid game with 14 points. Kalea Davis stretched her consecutive double-double streak to 11 games with 11 points and rebounds each. As a result, Kalea moves into sole possession of fourth place on the all-time Div. III double-double streak list.

Ashley Straughn and Anika Rivera led the visiting Beavers (10-7, 3-9 CUNYAC) with 15 points each.

On the men’s side, the Bearcats cruised past the winless Beavers (0-20, 0-10 CUNYAC) to record their 18th win of the season.

Lionel Hilaire was the star with 25 points, including five 3-pointers. The rest of the scoring was balanced again with George Kunkel scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds.

The entire men's bench saw action this evening to help create another busy box score (see link at the top of this page).

The Baruch basketball teams will both return to action on Friday night with a CUNYAC home doubleheader against the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island. Please note the revised start times with the women’s game at 6:00 pm, followed by the men’s game at 8:00 pm.

The women’s game will feature two of the current unbeaten teams (10-0 each) in CUNYAC women’s basketball. The Dolphins are 17-4 overall on the regular season.
