2009 Men's Cross Country Team
The men’s cross country team finished in second place at the 2009 CUNY Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship on Sunday, October 25, at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The second place trophy is one of the best marks in team history and demonstrates improvement after finishing in sixth place last year.

The Bearcats recorded 69 points thanks to the strong running from Hiroshi Nobuoka (fourth place), Gilbert Marte (sixth place), Agustin Lastra (eight place), Nelson Lim (22nd place) and Rey Perez (24th place) to beat out John Jay for third place.

The key to the second place was three finishers among the first 10 to cross the finish line.

The men's cross country team is coached by Matt Soja and assistant Mercedes Zegarra-Soja.

Hunter College placed four runners among the first 10 to claim the first place trophy with 39 points.

POINT SYSTEM: Please note in varsity cross country that only the top five runners count in team scoring. Therefore, if a team places runners in 5, 7, 9, 20, and 25 places, they accumulate 66 points when you add those five place finishes. The team with the lowest points wins the meet.
