Women's Cross Country Win 2009 CUNYAC 6K Championship
The women’s cross country team won the 2009 CUNY Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship on Sunday, October 25, at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
Baruch placed their top five runners among the first 15 to cross the finish line to clinch the CUNYAC team championship for the second time in three years.
The victory was a true team effort with Lorena Russi (third place), Estefany Tovar (eight place), Yana Polikarpov (12th place), Maryna Vitebskiy (14th place) and Desiree Daring (15th place) all crossing the finish line early to help Baruch total 52 points.
The Cardinals from York College placed three runners in the top 10. However, when taking into account their first five runners (5, 7, 9, 17, 18) in team scoring, they accumulated only 56 points to finish in second place.
The Bearcats are coached by Ariadne Mui and assistant Temi Arijeloye.

POINT SYSTEM: Please note in varsity cross country that only the top five runners count in team scoring. Therefore, if a team places runners in 5, 7, 9, 20, and 25 places, they accumulate 66 points when you add those five place finishes. The team with the lowest points wins the meet.
