CUNYAC Women's Tennis Final to Resume Sunday, Nov. 1, at 5:00 pm
The women’s tennis team is leading 3-1 against rival Hunter College following the completion of three doubles and one singles match in the CUNYAC Final started on Tuesday afternoon.
The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced that the final will resume on Sunday, November 1, at 5:00 pm, at the indoor courts of the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
The match will start with the finish of the #4 singles and the remaining #1, #3, #5, #6 singles still to be played.
The final was initially scheduled to be played this past Tuesday at the usual outdoor location of the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens, but due to the rain, the CUNY Athletic Conference made arrangements to move the match to the indoor courts of Queens College in Flushing, New York.
The Bearcats won two of the three doubles to take a 2-1 lead behind the winning efforts of the #1 (Monika Maiellano & Kristine Kraujina) and #2 doubles (Mariam Mkrtchyan & Shalanda Graham) teams.
The final continued into the singles session and with only two courts available a random draw took place to decide which two of the six singles would start play. The #2 singles and #4 singles were drawn in front of the respective head coaches.
Kristina Kraujina beat her opponent 6-3, 6-0 at #2 singles for the 3-1 lead, but the #4 singles match with Shalanda Graham was unable to be finished (tied 1-1 after two sets), due to a limited amount of court time after 7:00 pm.
