Women's Tennis Finish in Second Place at 2009 CUNY Athletic Conference Finals
The women’s tennis team lost 5-4 to Hunter College in the CUNYAC championship match that finished on Sunday evening at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.
The second place finish is the fifth consecutive runner up trophy for the Baruch women’s tennis program.
The championship match first started on Tuesday, October 27, with the Bearcats taking a 3-1 lead after the first day of competition.
The Bearcats won two of the three doubles and one completed #2 singles encounter to jump out to the 3-1 advantage. However, due to a lack of available courts after 7:00 pm, the match was halted and re-scheduled to be finished this Sunday evening at the indoor courts of the U.S. National Tennis Center.
The two teams resumed action to finish the #4 singles, along with the remaining #1, #3, #5, and #6 singles that were unable to be started on Tuesday night.
Baruch won at #4 singles today, but lost the remaining four singles encounters to suffer the 5-4 total points defeat.
The Bearcats coached by Florin Giuglescu finish their fall season with a 10-5 record.
