UPDATED: Women's Volleyball Wins Three Major CUNYAC Regular Season Awards
UPDATE: Carissa Hoover has been added to the CUNYAC Second All-Star Team.
The CUNY Athletic Conference has announced the post-season awards for women’s volleyball for the fall 2009 regular season.
All awards were voted on by the conference’s ten head coaches.
The Baruch women’s volleyball team was honored with three top individual awards, while four players were named CUNYAC All-Stars to help round off a terrific regular season effort.
Melinda Santiago was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year. Melinda has been a major cog in the Baruch offensive machine and leads the conference in assists. Her aggressive play allows her to get to balls, keep them in play, and set up the hitters.
Posey Wilson was named the CUNYAC Libero of the Year. Posey is a prototypical defensive specialist. She has 496 digs on the season heading into Championship Friday, an average of 4.28 digs per set.
Allison Stack was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Bearcats to a 25-7 regular season record, including an 8-1 mark and a number one seed in the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships. It was a turnaround season, as Baruch went 17-20 a year ago.
Christina Pierre was named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star, while Martina Micko, Lauren Hayden and Carissa Hoover were each named Second Team All-Stars for helping lead the Bearcats to their best season since 1995.
