Senior shortstop Jorge Rosado was named the conference Player of the Year on Tuesday as part of the annual post-season baseball awards officially announced by the CUNY Athletic Conference office.

In addition, P/3B David Chestnut, 1B Joseph Valentin, 2B Benjamin Riofrio, OF Thomas Daly, and pitchers Kellin Bliss and Daniel Brudie were each recognized as all-stars for leading Baruch to a CUNYAC Championship and 19-14-1 record on the overall season.

All awards are voted on by the CUNYAC baseball coaches.

Rosado, a lead-off hitter, had an outstanding senior season and led the entire conference by batting .465, with a .806 slugging percentage, 104 total bases, 36 RBI, 34 stolen bases and 32 walks. He also smacked a team-high six home runs.

Junior P/3B David Chestnut was named a First Team All-Star for the first time in his career. At the plate, he batted .400, with 13 doubles and 32 RBI. On the mound, the right-hander recorded five wins, five complete games and struck out 43 batters.

Senior 1B/P Joseph Valentin ended his outstanding career in style by being named a Second Team All-Star. Joseph batted .359, with 14 doubles and 32 RBI, and recorded three pivotal saves as a relief pitcher.

Sophomore 2B Benjamin Riofrio was named a Second Team All-Star. Riofrio batted .284, with 11 RBI and plenty of defense at second base by contributing to 16 double plays.

Freshman OF Thomas Daly was named a Second Team All-Star. Daly batted .324, with seven doubles and 33 RBI. He nailed an RBI double in the sixth game of the championship tournament to tie (5-5) the contest against Mitchell and came around to score the winning run on Joseph Valentin’s game-winning walk.

Sophomore Kellin Bliss had a solid first-year on the mound for Baruch and finished with a 4-1 record with 37 strikeouts in 43.2 innings pitched.

Sophomore Daniel Brudie also had a solid second season on the mound to tie for the team lead with five wins to go along with 55.2 innings pitched and 34 strikeouts.
