The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) hosted their annual basketball awards luncheon on Thursday afternoon at the Water Club Restaurant in New York City.

The annual luncheon brings together all 10 senior college teams (men & women) in CUNY to honor the top players and coaches from the 2009-10 regular season.

Junior point guard Monique Salmon was named the CUNYAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. Monique averaged 11.7 points, 7.1 assists and 4.2 rebounds in leading the team to another first place finish in the CUNYAC standings.

Senior forward Kalea Davis was named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star for the second consecutive year. Davis averaged a double-double of 12.4 points and 10.4 rebounds in 24 games. In addition, she became only the third player in Baruch women’s basketball team history to record over 1,000 career points and rebounds each.

Junior center Megan Bouwens was named a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star. Megan led the Bearcats in scoring with 15.4 points and averaged 9.4 rebounds per game.

The men’s basketball team had two starters named CUNYAC All-Stars.

Junior point guard Lionel Hilaire was named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star by averaging a team-leading 15.4 points, 3.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds in playing all 25 games this past regular season.

Senior forward George Kunkel was named a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star for the second time in his career. Kunkel averaged a double-double with 12.6 points and 10.9 rebounds in 24 games.

The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches. The CUNYAC office tallies the votes and announces the winners at the luncheon.  For the first time, the teams attended the event without any prior knowledge of the winners. For a complete list of CUNYAC All-Stars, please read below.
