Oliveira Honored Three Times - CUNYAC, NECVA & AVCA Player of the Week

Pablo Oliveira has been recognized for his outstanding play as he has been named the Player of the Week for three organizations - the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), the Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association, and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) - for the period of February 21-27, 2011.

Oliveira led the Bearcats to a 6-1 record on the week, which included three victories over top-15 competition. Overall, he hit .343 for the past week (90-30-175), while averaging 3.91 kills, 2.52 digs and 0.48 blocks per set.

Oliveira hit .375 (13-4-24) to go with 11 digs and three assisted blocks in a 3-0 sweep versus #6-ranked Philadelphia Biblical, while adding a 24-11-42 (.310) hitting line with 11 digs and two blocks (one solo) in a five-set triumph over #4-ranked UC-Santa Cruz.

On the season, he is leading the CUNYAC in service aces (0.69) and kills (3.80) per set, while hitting at a .313 clip.

The last time a Baruch player won the national AVCA honor was on March 2, 2008, as Danial Levent won the weekly award.

Baruch’s
Steven Coniglio was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week.

Coniglio’s top performance of the week came in the Baruch Invitational versus #4 UC-Santa Cruz, where he hit .353 (9-3-17) and registered four assisted blocks in the five-set victory.

Coniglio currently ranks third in the CUNYAC in hitting percentage (.357) and fifth with a team-high 0.60 blocks per set average.
