Two current student-athletes and four former swimming stars all teamed up for a fundraiser to swim around the island of Manhattan on Saturday, June 18, 2011.

The Baruch swimming members all swam to help raise money for NYC Swim Free, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the health improvement of children and adults through swimming.

The Bearcats joined 34 individual solo swimmers and five relay groups from all over the world to swim around the island of Manhattan through recognizable landmarks such as the Williamsburg Bridge, 59th Street Bridge and Yankee Stadium through the final stretch that included the Hudson River to Battery Park South Cove for a total distance covered of 28.5 miles.

The Bearcats raised over $9,000 towards the efforts for NYC Swim Free.

Each member of the Baruch group took turns swimming and a breakdown of locations is listed below. The first part of journey involved swimmers swimming from one location to the next, followed by the second half of the arduous journey which went by times to help with safety.  

Swimmers were supported by boats and kayakers to ensure further safety and guidance.
