Allison Stack Named CUNYAC Coach of the Year, Four Players Named First Team All-Stars

The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced the major award winners and all-stars for the 2012 women’s volleyball conference season.

The Bearcats, the 2012 CUNYAC Tournament Champions, were honored with one major award and four all-stars.

Allison Stack, who has led the Bearcats to back-to-back CUNYAC Championships and four consecutive seasons of at least 20 wins, was named the Women’s Coach of the Year for the second time (2009). Stack has coached the team to 20 straight wins (regular & postseason) against CUNYAC opposition dating back to the start of the 2011 season.


Lauren Hayden was named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star for the first time after three previous Second Team Honors. Hayden, who is Baruch’s all-time leader in kills for women’s volleyball, has recorded a .329 hitting percentage with a 2.50 kills per set average. She has also totaled a team-leading 47 blocks.

Rebecca Peralta was named a First Team CUNYAC All-Star for the first time. Peralta has played in a team leading 110 sets and been ranked all year in the top 10 nationally for aces (106 total, 0.94 sa/s) in NCAA Division III. She has averaged 2.76 kills per set to lead the team with 312 total kills, while on the defensive end leading the team with 316 digs (2.80 d/s).

Melinda Santiago was named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star for the second straight year. The 2011 CUNYAC Championship Tournament MVP and Baruch’s all-time women’s volleyball assist leader has totaled an impressive 942 assists for a 9.33 assist per set average this season. She is also second on the team with 48 aces.   

Jessica Wu, the 2011 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year and this year’s CUNYAC Championship Tournament MVP, was named a First Team All-Star to round out the Baruch honorees this season. Wu totaled 270 kills for a 3.10 per set average. She also had 53 aces, 231 digs (2.66 d/s), and 24 total blocks.
