The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) hosted the 26th Annual Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner on the evening of Wednesday, May 16, at Queens College in Flushing, New York.

The night is a tribute to CUNYAC’s outstanding student-athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters. The honorees represent the very best the City University of New York has to offer in quality academic achievement, athleticism, and pride throughout the senior and community college divisions.

The Baruch College Bearcats had three student-athletes named Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention thanks to the outstanding hard work of seniors
Mickey Abbatiello (Men's Basketball, 3.78), Jeffrey Wong (Men's Swimming, 3.48) and Posey Wilson (Women's Volleyball, 3.38).

Steven Coniglio, the winner of the NCAA’s Elite 89 Academic Award at the inaugural Men’s Volleyball Division III Championship with a 3.897 GPA, was also recognized this evening. Coniglio is the first Baruch and CUNYAC student-athlete to win the national award that goes to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at their respective NCAA Div. III Championship.

For the third straight year and fifth time in the past seven years, the Baruch scholar-athletes and administrators in attendance were awarded the CUNYAC Commissioner Cup Trophy (pictured at top of this page) as the most successful athletic program during the 2011-12 athletic year.

"Winning the Commissioner Cup was a total team effort from the student-athletes to coaches to our administration," said Athletic Director Ray Rankis. "We had a very successful year and are excited to have it back on campus."

The Commissioner Cup Trophy will be officially awarded again at the 40th Annual Baruch College Athletic Awards Dinner scheduled for Thursday, May 24, at 6:00 pm.

In basketball, regular season points are awarded based on their respective North/South Division finish, not overall regular season finish.
