WEDNESDAY MATCH SUMMARY BELOW

The men's soccer team edged their rival Hunter College Hawks, 2-1, in a CUNYAC Tournament quarterfinal playoff match on Wednesday afternoon at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

The Bearcats advance to the semifinal round on Saturday, November 2, against fourth seeded College of Staten Island. The match will start at 2:00 pm and will be hosted by Brooklyn College. For a complete schedule of the tournament and other results, please scroll to the bottom of this story.

Hunter scored first in the 24th minute, but the Bearcats battled back in the 35th minute as
Christopher Galluzzo headed in a goal off a free kick assist by Kevin Romero to tie the postseason match.

The Bearcats controlled most of the action and had numerous opportunities to score the go ahead goal with a 24-6 shot advantage.

They finally broke through the defense again in the 52nd minute as
Oren Kozlowski tapped in a goal on an assist by Edward Humphreys through the penalty area. Romero started the scoring play by setting up Humphreys to put him into position to feed Kozlowski for the winning goal.

Helder Correia gets the win in front of the net with three saves to lift the team into the next round.

Tonight's win is the team's ninth straight, while also increasing their undefeated CUNYAC streak (regular & postseason) to 20.
