Women's Volleyball Wins Two Major Awards, Six Players Voted All-Stars

The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced the women's volleyball all-stars and top individual winners for the 2015 season.

The head coach and the sports information director at each of the conference schools had a vote in the annual awards.

The Bearcats were rewarded for an undefeated CUNYAC season (8-0) by winning two major awards and having six different players voted as All-Stars.

Carrie Thomas coached the Bearcats to the CUNYAC Regular Season Championship (1st place), and for her efforts, she was voted as the CUNYAC Coach of the Year in her second season at Baruch.

"It is truly an honor to be named Coach of the Year," said Thomas. "I give a lot of credit to my players, coaches and managers. Each day every member of our team goes 100 percent. It shows the dedication that each person has to this program. We are a tight knit group, so they tend to enjoy each other on-and-off the court. They push each other and it shows on the court. We have a wide variety of talent and skill at all levels. It's a matter of how you put that altogether and create a team that can produce and win. It is an honor and privilege to coach such a talented group of kids."

Amy Sung, a two-time CUNYAC Libero of the Year and Team Captain, was voted as the Sportsmanship of the Year.

McKenzie Davidson, Symone Green, Crystle Dela Cruz and Sung were voted as First Team Conference All-Stars, while Akilah Meulens and Sydney Parks were also honored for their outstanding seasons with Second Team Honors.
