Jose is one of the most accomplished players in Baruch baseball history.

He has pitched professionally in the minors for teams within the Kansas City Royals (Butte, Montana) and Los Angeles Dodgers (Bakersfield and San Antonio) farm system.

As a result, Jose brings a wealth of experience to his position as head coach of the baseball program.

The Cardinal Hayes product is a 1977 Catholic High School Athletic Association and a New York Daily News First Team Selection.

Tom Santino

Assistant Coach, Fourth Season

The Brooklyn native is a 1976 graduate of Long Island City High School, where he played shortstop and third base.

After high school, he embarked on a successful career as a professional boxer, compiling an 8-0 record (6-0 KO) and the United States Championship of the Junior Middleweight Division (154 pounds).

He then began a successful tenure in law enforcement by serving 20 years as a New York City Police Detective, including six of those years as a bodyguard for U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer.

He has always kept his close ties to the metropolitan baseball community coaching little league and a host of high-level summer clubs.

Tom has a BS degree in political science from Empire State College and an MPA in public administration from Baruch.

Jefferson Infante

Assistant Coach, Second Season

Jefferson (Jeff) Infante will begin his second season on the coaching staff.

He will be involved in every aspect of the program from working with pitchers, hitters and recruiting, as Jose Torres’ right-hand man.

Jeff, a professional baseball instructor, brings significant experience as a teacher and former player from Louisberg College (2001-02), Globe Tech (2002-03) and Ramapo College (2003-04).

As a member of Louisberg College, he played in the National Junior College Athletic Association (N.J.C.A.A.) World Series.

With the Roadrunners with Ramapo, he was named to All-Conference (N.J.A.C.) and earned All-American Honors.

He attended Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, and earned All-City honors with their varsity baseball team.

After high school, he played in the Dominican Republic in a recruiting league against professional teams.

Jeff was drafted as a catcher by the Kansas City Royals in 2004. He went on to play for three years in the Royals farm system for Idaho Falls, and one year of Independent baseball with the St. Joseph's Black Snakes in Missouri.

He was forced to retire from professional baseball due to career-ending shoulder injury.

Wilson Matos

Batting Coach, Second Season

Wilson is in his second season with the coaching staff and will spend lots of time working with players on their mechanics and fundamentals of hitting.

He brings over 18 years of coaching experience, including time spent with teams on the little league, AAU, and high school levels (Mamaroneck H.S. and Timber Creek H.S.).

He graduated from Alfred E. Smith High School and also took classes at Borough of Manhattan Community College.
