Head Coach

Charles Lampasso, U.N.C.-Wilmington '89

An avid swimming professional, Charles is in his fifth year at the helm of the swim program.

He has been previously named the 2006 and 2008 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Coach of the Year in the men's division.

Lampasso, a native of Queens, is a 1989 graduate from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he swam for three years until injuries started him on his coaching career.

From 1996 to 2005, he worked as the aquatic director for the Flushing YMCA, overseeing a program with 7,000 members and two nationally ranked swim teams.

He also previously served as an assistant swim coach on the collegiate level with Queens College (volunteer, 1998-2005), St. John’s University (1990), and his alma mater, the Seahawks from the Division I program of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (volunteer, 1988-89).

He was an assistant coach with the United States Swimming (USS) team the Gotham Aqua Kings and with the YMCA and USS team the Flushing Flyers “A” and “B” teams for 16 years.

Charles coached many swimmers to Top 16 national rankings in both YMCA and United States Swimming. For his coaching efforts in 2004, he was named the United States Swimming (USS) Age Group Coach of the Year.

He grew up at the Flushing YMCA, where he swam on the team since age four. He went on to become a national qualifier.


Assistant Coach

Angeoline Piguave, Binghamton '89

Angie starts her fourth year with the swim team and runs the strength training program supervising new team swimmers.

Angeoline “Angie” Piguave graduated from SUNY-Binghamton in 1989, with a degree in Spanish literature and anthropology and a minor in archaeology.
 
Before coming to the United States, she swam with the Ecuadorian National Team.
 
She is currently the coordinator and personal trainer at the West Side YMCA, and recently finished the 2006 Florida Ironman Competition (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, 26.2-mile run). 

She spent five years as assistant coach for the Flushing Flyers Developmental Swim Team, where she worked alongside Lampasso.
 
In 1996 and 1997, Angie traveled to Venezuela as an instructor/trainer to conduct high-level classes in aquatics and fitness.  
 

Assistant Coach

Joyce Hsu, Baruch '06

Joyce begins her third year with the swim program.
 
She was a founding member of the first varsity Baruch swim team in 2002.
 
Joyce was a key member of team, always willing to step up and swim whatever event was needed. She adds depth to the coaching staff by working with swimmers on their technique.
 
Before coming to the United States, she swam in her native Brazil.
 
She is also currently an assistant swim coach with the USS team the New York Aquatic Club that is based out of the ARC Aquatic Center.
