The women’s volleyball team swept the Panthers from the SUNY College at Old Westbury in three sets (25-10, 25-12, 25-17) in a non-conference home match played on Thursday evening in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (6-4) totaled 49 kills, compared to only 19 by Old Westbury (6-3), to finishing hitting with a .341 hitting percentage to record the victory.

Jessica Wu led the attack with 11 kills (.304) and four aces, while Lauren Hayden was next best with nine kills and a solid .471 hitting percentage.

Brittany Sorensen (six kills), Rebecca Peralta (five kills, four aces) and Megan Moody (five kills, 14 assists) also contributed to the victory against their opponent from the Skyline Conference. 

Melinda Santiago totaled 22 assists, three kills and two aces.

Kristina Giordano led Old Westbury with 16 assists and seven digs.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, September 20, with a 6:00 pm CUNYAC home contest in the ARC Arena against the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island.
