The men's and women's swimming teams each defeated York College in their CUNYAC home opener on Monday night in the ARC Aquatic Center.
The win was the first for each team as they go to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the CUNYAC.
The women started strong in the relay with Gabrielle Huezo, Amy Sung, Yee Chung Phang and Wendy Ambrosio winning the 200 Meter Medley (2:24.12).Rose Lee won three individual events (11:57.19, 800 Freestyle; 2:58.2, 200 Individual Medley; 1:09.58, 100 Freestyle), while Wendy D'Ambrosio (2:23.16, 200 Freestyle), Cristina Andrade (33.65, 50 Freestyle) and Yee Chung Phang (1:14.43, 100 Butterfly) won an event each.
On the men's side, David Scholes, Jonathan Hla, David Pejovic and Andrew Lubrino started by winning the relay in the 200 Meter Medley with a time of 1:59.12.Miguel Meza was victorious in two individual events (2:30.66, 200 Individual Medley; 59.52, 100 Freestyle), while Jeffrey Bosmediano (11:51.31, 800 freestyle) and David Scholes (2:11.28, 200 freestyle) each won one in the home victory.
Jacky Lau had a big night reaching his career 1,000th point and breaking a 10 year-old record in the time trials with a time of 1:09.20 in the 100 Individual Medley .
