The men's and women's swimming teams each began their 2016-17 schedule on Tuesday night at home in the ARC Aquatic Center.

The Bearcats each suffered losses, but competed very well against the Pioneers from Wayne, New Jersey.

The men's and women's swimming teams will return to action on Thursday, November 10, with a non-conference dual meet against Adelphi University and Queens College in Flushing, New York. The meet against the NCAA Division II opposition will start at 6 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS

*Daniela Marquez, Yee Chung Phang, Daniela Giraldo and Rachel Samuels finished second in the 200 meter medley relay (2:17.27).

*Eddy Min, Jonathan Hla, Sam Fassler and Andrew Lubrino took first place in the 200 meter medley relay (2:01.66) by over seven seconds.

*Wendy Ambrosio was three-for-three winning the long 800 meter freestyle (10:48.32), 400 meter freestyle (5:14.31), and 200 meter freestyle relay (2:05.28) with Asimina Hamakiotes, Rachel Samuels and Debbie Li.

*Daniel Giraldo won the 200 meter freestyle (2:27.66) and 100 meter butterfly (1:13.30) events, and second in the previously mentioned 200 meter medley relay.

*Joseph Vasile placed second in the 200 meter freestyle (2:20.40) and 100 meter backstroke (1:10.43) events.

*Rachel Samuels second in the 50 meter freestyle (31.55).

*Andrew Lubrino second in the 50 meter freestyle (26.62).

*In addition to being part of the second place 200 meter medley relay, Yee Chung Phang was second in both the 200 meter individual medley (2:45.82) and 100 meter breaststroke (1:26.78) events.

*Erik Kantar was second in the 200 meter individual medley (2:32.77).

*Sam Fassler took second in the 100 meter butterfly (1:06.95).

*Daniela Marquez was second in the 100 meter freestyle (1:12.47).
