Women's Tennis Wins Back-to-Back CUNYAC Championships, Earn NCAA Berth

The women's tennis team won their second straight CUNYAC title by defeating the Lightning of Lehman College, 5-2, on a cold and windy Friday afternoon at the Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

Isabel Arias recorded match point at second singles, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, to help the team clinch the 5-2 win. Per postseason rules, the match was halted upon a team winning their fifth point.

"It was so nerve racking because I kept getting updates on the other matches and I knew that it was coming down to my match" said Arias. "I just made sure to focus on every single point and take it one at a time."

Allie Jackson-Hing was named MVP of the 2016 CUNYAC Championship Tournament. Allie recorded a hard-fought victory at first singles, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.

In addition to the title, the Bearcats also earn CUNYAC's highly-coveted berth to the NCAA Tournament during May 12-15, 2017.

The Bearcats will prepare for the NCAA with scheduled regular season spring matches against and York College (March 30), Ramapo (April 1) and Rutgers-Newark (April 8).
