Softball Drops Tough Doubleheader at Saint Elizabeth, Sunday's DH at York Postponed

The softball team lost a tough doubleheader to the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon in Morristown, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats lost 5-4 and 8-7 in a pair of exciting contests

In the opening game, they overcame an early 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 lead through three innings.

Cassandra Lagana scored on a wild pitch and Salena Robles hit an RBI ground out to tie the game in the second. They jumped ahead 4-2 in the next inning when Olivia Dellston scored on a wild pitch and Lagana smacked an RBI groundout.

The Eagles ralled with two runs in the fifth and the go ahead run in the sixth to walk away with the 5-4 game one win.

In the second game, the Bearcats dug themselves into a hole down 8-2 after four innings, but they showed plenty of spirit with a big rally in the final three innings.

Nicole Bellini started the comeback with a two run double in the fifth inning. The team added two more runs in the sixth, the first on a fielder's choice RBI by Robles and an RBI ground out by Marisa Bou to plate Juliann Gross.

The Bearcats kept battling in their final at-bat with Gross smacking an RBI double to score Jessica Piccolino for an 8-7 scoreline that eventually stood as the final result.

The Bearcats were scheduled to play a Sunday doubleheader at York College, but due to the pending weather, the doubleheader was rescheduled to Wednesday, March 23 (Friday class schedule) at 3:45 p.m. at the same location of Padavan-Prellers Field in Queens.
