Softball Takes Two Against Yeshiva

The softball team swept a doubleheader against Yeshiva University in a non-conference doubleheader played on Tuesday evening at the softball complex on the campus of Fordham University in the Bronx.

In the opener, the visiting Bearcats posted a 12-2 victory in five innings behind the solid pitching from Danielle Zurek (5 IP, 2 H, 2R, 0 ER, 11 K, 1 BB) and hitting from Nicole Bellini (4-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3 Triples).

The team broke open the contest with eight runs in the fourth inning en route to the win. Cassandra Lagana (3-for-4, 3 R, 1 RBI) also had a big game at the plate.

In the second game, the Bearcats scored 13 runs in the second inning to rout Yeshiva, 15-6, in five innings.

Christina Chin totaled four RBI, including three in the big second inning with a bases loaded walk and a two-run single. Lagana (2 Runs, 2 RBI), Bellini (2 RBI) and Olivia Dellston (2 RBI) also contributed to the victory. Kristen Podlovits scored three runs.

The Bearcats improve their record to 5-1.

The softball team will return to action on Thursday, March 23, with a 3:30pm road contest at Randall's Island (Field No. 12) against the Dolphins from the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
