Softball Defeats Yeshiva to Even Record at 4-4

The softball team won a doubleheader against Yeshiva University on Tuesday night at the Fordham University Softball Complex in the Bronx, New York.

The Bearcats won the opener 9-0 behind a solid pitching performance from CUNYAC Player of the Week Cassandra Lagana with a shutout and nine strikeouts in the five inning win.

Kaitlyn Vichas (4 RBI, 2 runs) and Amba Jagnarine (3 runs) had three hits each, while Danielle Petrunti batted 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

In the second game, which was an absolute slugfest in five innings, the two teams combined for 30 runs and 28 hits. The Bearcats won 21-9.

Lagana (3-5, 4 Runs, 1 RBI) and Nicole Bellini (3-5, 2 Runs, 1 RBI) had the big hits, while Petrunti, Chae Padron and Victoria Kisling each scored three runs.

Kisling, who was named the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, also earned her second win of the season with five strikeouts.
