Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Win Streak Reaches Six, Bearcats Defeat Rutgers-Camden (62-47)

The men's basketball team recorded their sixth win of the season with a 62-47 home victory against Rutgers-Camden on Friday afternoon.

The visiting Scarlet Raptors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) took a lead of 28-22 with 4:07 left in the first half, but the Bearcats exploded in the final four minutes with a 13-1 run to go into the break up 35-29.

The defense then came up big in the second half limiting the visitors to only 21 percent shooting (7-for-34), which included 0-for-12 from three.

The Bearcats had little trouble scoring in the second half en route to completing back-to-back home wins.

Devin Nicholson scored all 15 of his points in the first half to lead the Bearcats, while Emil Purisic (eight rebounds) had 13 points.

Mohamed Gueye set a career-high with seven blocks in yesterday's home win against Goucher. Today, he scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds to complete a solid week of basketball.

Jordany Pierre led the Scarlet Raptors with 11 points and nine rebounds.

The focus for the Bearcats will next shift to their competitive CUNYAC schedule starting next Tuesday with a road contest at York College.
