Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bearcats Defeat Rosemont, Enter Break With Four-Game Winning Streak

The men's basketball team shot 62 percent in the second half and scored 25 total points off 20 turnovers to defeat Rosemont College from Philadelphia 81-75 victory on Friday night.

The Bearcats led most of the game and received a monster performance from Michael Gannon, who scored 25 points shooting an almost perfect 10-of-11 from the field, which included 8-for-8 in the first half. His only miss was a long three as the visiting Ravens had a difficult time defending him. Gannon was also solid on defense grabbing seven rebounds.

The Ravens stayed in the game by forcing 23 turnovers, but the Bearcats took advantage of the holes in their press and smart passing up court to score on a series of lay ups. They managed in the second half to lead the Ravens by 11 points on five different occasions, but had to fend off several runs that included the Ravens getting as close as 75-74 with 1:43 remaining.

Gerard Nicholson (eight assists) almost had his own perfect night scoring 17 points by shooting 6-of-8 from the field, which included 4-for-4 from three. He scored a key jumper to grow the lead to 77-74 and then assisted on Emil Purisic's layup during the next possession for a 79-74 scoreline with 47 seconds left that was enough to hold on for the home victory.

Purisic scored all eight of his points in the crucial final minutes to give the squad the extra push they needed.

Devin Nicholson came off the bench to score 11 points and Sayeed Osorio was pivotal on defense with nine rebounds and four steals as the Bearcats recorded their fourth straight win heading into the break.

The Ravens from the CSAC (Colonial States Athletic Conference) shot 6-of-27 from three and were out-rebounded 42-30 in the loss. Damian Rawls led their team with 19 points and Zaire Mitchell had 16.
