Bearcats Honor Six Student-Athletes in CUNYAC Regular Season Home Finale

The men's volleyball team lost a tough four-set home match to the Hawks of Hunter College on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats posted a better-hitting percentage (.339 to .331) and even totaled more kills (58 to 55) and blocks (13 to 11), but Hunter notched key points when it counted the most and finished better in digs (47 to 37) to keep the ball in play.

Both teams had the same amount of assists (54) and aces (six) in a match where the last two sets (29-27, 27-25) went the extra distance.

The two rivals were tied at 25 in the fourth set but Hunter notched the last two points to clinch the victory.

Jack Centeno was tops all afternoon with a season-high 22 kills (.549), while Haoxin Hu (12 kills) and Akil Vaughn (.429, 10 kills) were also in double-figures.

Ted Kim led the visiting Hawks with 16 kills (.464) and 12 digs.

Before the match, Head Coach Alexander Moule and the men's volleyball program honored six Bearcats playing in their final regular season home match: Michael Higgins, Defeng Han, Andrew Ubanwa, Akil Vaughn, Jonathan Liao, and Vukasin Bozic.
