The men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to the York College Cardinals in a CUNYAC contest on Wednesday afternoon in Jamaica, NY.
The host Cardinals struck early, with Ernest Bawilliam opening the scoring in the 13th minute and Derick Aboagye-Frimpong heading home another nine minutes later to make it 2-0.
The Bearcats responded almost immediately, as Andreas Kotronis converted a penalty kick just a minute later to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, York regained control before halftime when Christopher Garcia found the net to restore the two-goal advantage at 3-1.
Baruch came out aggressive after the break, out-shooting York 10-5 in the second half and 20-12 overall. Kotronis struck again from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute—his fourth goal of the season—to make it 3-2 and add late drama, but the Cardinals held on for their first win over the Bearcats since 2011.
The Bearcats will look to bounce back in CUNYAC play on Saturday, October 11, when they visit John Jay College for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Field 70 at Randall's Island.
