The 2024-25 CUNYAC Women's Basketball All-Stars and Major Awards were announced Thursday morning. The All-Star teams and Major Awards are voted upon by the league's head coaches.
Mia Castillo was voted as the CUNYAC Co-Player of the Year and First Team All-Star. She earns the Player of the Year award for the second time in her career as she was also Player of the Year in 2023-24. This season, Castillo leads the CUNYAC and NCAA Division III in scoring (27.3 ppg) while also leading the conference in assists (6.0 assists per game) and steals (5.1 steals per game). She ranks fourth nationally in assists per game and first in steals.
Castillo, who became the CUNYAC's all-time leading scorer in women's basketball on February 11 against Medgar Evers, now has 2,335 career points. She also set an NCAA Division III record for career triple-doubles with seven in her career.
Elissa Leung, a Baruch graduate student and Team Captain, was voted as a Second Team All-Star for the third time in her career. She surpassed 1,000 career points against SUNY Poly on December 14, 2024. The point guard averaged 11.7 points per game and scored double-digits in points 15 times in the 26 total contests this season.
Angela Bacarella, one of the most versatile players in CUNYAC who seemed to be involved in every basket, steal, or loose ball during her career, was voted to the CUNYAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
