BOX SCORE

The men's soccer team won their third straight game by the score of 4-1 against York College on a rainy Wednesday night at the Met Oval in Maspeth, Queens.

Sophomore David Shin (Queens, N.Y./Millfield-England), who is featured in this week's CUNYAC Weekly Radio Show (CLICK HERE), had his best night since transferring from the Division II program at Bridgeport. He played a factor in every score with three assists and one goal.

Baruch opened the scoring at 8:00 when Shin fired a free kick into the box. The ball was cleverly deflected into the goal by Thomas Murdoch (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) for an early 1-0 lead.

Senior striker Alex Sokol (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) scored the next two goals to raise his season tally to six, including at least one goal in his last three games.

The first goal was at 28:50, thanks to a cross in the box by Shin that Sokol slammed into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. The second goal ocurred 11 minutes later as a corner kick taken by Shin met Sokol again in the box for the 3-0 score.

Shin finally scored his goal just two minutes into the start of the second half for a comfortable 4-0 advantage.

The combination of Jason Lopez (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and Soung Foon Chao (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) worked the ball up the midfield on a counterattack. Lopez sent a perfectly placed ball down the left flank, and Shin met the pass to beat the goalkeeper one-on-one for the fourth goal.

York scored their lone goal on a very wet evening at the 66:30 mark on a penalty kick by Dukens Richie (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore).

The Bearcats will return to action this Saturday with a conference clash at the College of Staten Island. Kick off at the C.S.I. soccer complex is scheduled for Noon.
