The women's swimming team split against a pair of opponents at a double dual meet hosted by the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.

They defeated the hosts N.J.I.T. (49-13), but lost to Montclair State (49-35).

The Bearcats currently have a record of 1-1 overall on the young aquatic season.

The highlights for the Bearcats consisted of the 200 medley relay victory against N.J.I.T. behind the efforts of Cassandra Mendola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney), Annelie Gregor (Stockholm, Sweden/Huddinge), Jessica Penaherrera (Guayaquil, Ecuador/U.E.M.S.), and Laura Tumulak (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame).

Gregor had a solid afternoon by also setting two records in victories against both opponents in the 200 I.M. and 100 Breast.

Penaherra finished first against N.J.I.T., and in the process, set a new school record in the 100 Fly.

Newcomer Grace Kim (Maspeth, N.Y./Francis Lewis) surprised with a solid first-place finish against Division I N.J.I.T. in the 100 Back.

The Bearcats will return to action with their season opener this Thursday night in the ARC Aquatic Center against Adelphi University at 7:00 p.m.
