The women's volleyball team swept (30-13, 30-23, 30-8) the Cougars of Medgar Evers in a conference match played on Tuesday night in Brooklyn, New York.
The victory improves the Bearcats to 13-14 overall and 6-3 in CUNYAC, which is good for the fourth seed in the CUNYAC Tournament next week.
The team has also now won 10 of their last 11 matches, including their last four in a row.
The Bearcats will host a CUNYAC quarterfinal match against Brooklyn College in the ARC Arena on Tuesday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m. Stay tuned for information on a Halloween Night contest and other festivities.
Sophomore Nicole Baruffaldi (New York, N.Y./Ossining) led the surging Bearcats with 10 kills and six service aces, while sophomore Maya Kagan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Stuyvesant) and sophomore Star Soanes (Dominica, West Indies/Norman Thomas) each tallied six kills.
Freshman Mayra Estepan (Jackson Heights, N.Y./Francis Lewis) dished out 20 assists and sophomore Lizmarie Vasquez (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman) collected nine digs.
The Bearcats will conclude their 2006 regular-season schedule this Saturday morning with a tri-match hosted by Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey.
They will play Montclair State (10:00 a.m.) and FDU-Florham (Noon) in a pair of non-conference matches.
