The women's basketball team used a big scoring run in the second half to defeat Ramapo College, 86-57, in a non-conference women’s basketball game on Monday night in the ARC Arena.
The Bearcats (6-4) built a 14-point lead (29-15) with 4:11 left in the first half, but the Roadrunners from Ramapo (1-6) slowly climbed back to trail by only nine points (34-25) at halftime.
The visitors opened the second half with an 11-2 run to go ahead briefly, 38-36, but Baruch responded with a 20-6 run for a 56-44 lead with 10:59 left.
Ramapo never recovered from that run, as Baruch scored 52 total points in the second half. They also shot 20-40 from the field, and forced Ramapo into 36 turnovers.
Seniors Racquel Reid (Bronx, N.Y./Washington Irving) and Jody Trapp (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) each scored 17 points to lead the Bearcats.
Junior Dominique McClendon (Chicago, III./Seaside) recorded 16 points and eight rebounds in another solid frontcourt effort.
Koena Palmer (Port Reading, N.J./Woodbridge) led Ramapo with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Natasha Gross (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) contributed 11 points, four assists, and six steals.
The Bearcats will now enter the final exam and holiday break.
They will return to action on Tuesday, January 2, with a non-conference road game in Grantham, Pennsylvania against #13 ranked Messiah. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
