The women's basketball team won their third straight game with a convincing 71-54 conference road victory against Lehman College on Thursday night at The Apex in the Bronx.
The Bearcats had four double-digit scorers, led by junior Myleka Garnett (Seaside, Calif./Seaside) with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and two steals. She shot 6-of-10 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
Junior Karlee Whipple (Lund, Nevada/Lund) scored 11 points, three assists, and three steals. Seniors Racquel Reid (Bronx, N.YY./Washington Irving) and Ally Stamatiades (Astoria, N.Y./W.C. Bryant) each had 10 points. Reid also grabbed 13 rebounds.
Junior Dominique McClendon (Chicago, III/Seaside) scored eight points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
The Bearcats shot 40 percent (26-65), while Lehman strugggled at 27 percent (22-83), including 4-of-25 from three-point range.
Sally Nnami led the Lightning with 16 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals.
The women's team will return to action on Saturday in the ARC Arena with a non-conference home battle against # 5 ranked Scranton. Tip off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
