The baseball team ended a four-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over CCNY in a conference make up game played on Tuesday night at Roberto State Clemente Park in the Bronx.

The victory ties the win total from last year, as the Bearcats improve to 10-14 overall and 6-5 in CUNYAC. They have seven games remaining on the regular season, all make ups.

Senior Alberto Nieves (Brooklyn, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum) played a brilliant game on the mound and plate. He pitched a complete game five-hitter (5 strikeouts, 6 walks, no earned runs) in throwing over 130 pitches, while batting 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored.

Sophomore Cesar Chaves (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison), and juniors Ramon Grullon (Brooklyn, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum) and Charles Dantone (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) each recorded two hits. Grullon also snatched three stolen bases.

Baruch scored two runs apiece in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

They led 6-1 through the first seven innings, but a late rally, including bases loaded in the ninth, was stopped by Nieves.

Four of the five hits by CCNY were doubles.

Baruch will return to action on Thursday with a conference make up road game against Yeshiva. First pitch at Floyd Bennett Field is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
