4/27/2006 11:11:59 PM

The baseball team set a school record for runs scored with a 35-2 conference win over Yeshiva on Thursday at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.

The game is the first of seven to be played in the next five days for the Bearcats (11-14, 7-5 CUNYAC), who are in the midst of a heavy streak of make-up games.

They currently sit in third place by percentage points over CCNY, with conference games remaining against John Jay (3), Yeshiva (2), and CCNY (1).

The team and coaches will celebrate Senior Day this Sunday with a 11:00 a.m. conference doubleheader against Yeshiva at Taft High School in the Bronx.

Sophomore Cesar Chaves (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) led the Bearcats, batting 5-for-7 with six runs scored and three RBI.

Junior pitcher Dennis Treulieb (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) pitched his second complete game of the season. He had a no-hitter into the sixth inning and batted 3-for-3 with three RBI.

Junior pitcher Ricardo Estrada (Brooklyn, N.Y./Telecommunications), one of the many bench players and pitchers to see action after the starters were pulled early, belted a grand slam in the first pitch of his first-ever collegiate plate appearance.

Baruch will be in action Friday with a road game at John Jay. First pitch at American Legion Field in Brooklyn is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
