The men's soccer team started their conference schedule on a high note with a 2-0 road win against John Jay College on Wednesday afternoon in Riverbank State Park.

Junior midfielder Edward Shin (Queens, N.Y.), a Div. II transfer from Bridgeport, put the Bearcats on the scoreboard three minutes into the second half. The Bearcats sent a cross into the box, but it deflected off a John Jay defender and Shin took advantage of a lucky bounce to head home the first goal.

Senior striker Alex Sokol (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) added an insurance goal one minute from the final whistle. Fellow sophomore striker Rafal Dziekanowski (Warsaw, Poland/Forest Hills) set up the score by laying a perfect feed inside the box to Sokol. 

The Bearcats outshot the Bloodhounds, 14-6, to even their season record to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in CUNYAC.

Freshman goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) recorded his first collegiate shutout with three saves.

Baruch will next play Brooklyn College (2-0, 1-0 CUNYAC) this upcoming Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the Met Oval in Maspeth, Queens.
