BOX SCORE

The men's soccer team ended a three-match losing streak by going on the road Wednesday afternoon to defeat Medgar Evers College, 3-0, at Old Boys High School in Brooklyn.

The victory clinches a conference tournament berth as the seventh seed. They will play at #2 seeded Staten Island on Saturday, October 27th, in a quarterfinal playoff (1:00 pm).

Rookie striker Valiantsin Kirykovich (Pinsk, Belarus/No. 17), who missed the previous match with injury, played a big factor by scoring twice and adding an assist.

The Bearcats scored early in the 10th minute. Kirykovich scored on a corner kick assist from sophomore Jason Lopez (New York, NY/St. Francis Prep).

The lead grew to two goals in the 63rd minute when rookie striker Freddy Carasco-Dance (East Elmhurst, NY/William C. Bryant) fired a rocket from 19-yards to score his ninth goal of the season. Kirykovich contributed an assist on the play to set up Carasco-Dance for the goal.

The Bearcats wrapped up the victory two minutes from the final whistle as Kirykovich beat the goalkeeper again during a one-on-one opportunity for the goal and eventual 3-0 score line.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano (Rego Park, NY/St. Francis Prep), who also missed the previous match with injury, returned to the starting line up and posted the shutout victory.
