The men's volleyball team fell in three to New Paltz State in a non-conference match played on Monday night in New Paltz, New York.
The Bearcats (5-11) put up a tough battle in the first set and were tied at 27, but the Hawks pulled away for the 30-28 opening set victory.
The second set saw the same tie again at 27, after the Bearcats rallied from a 26-21 deficit, but the home side managed the victory again, 30-28.
The Bearcats fell behind in the third set, 15-7, and were unable to rally as #15 ranked New Paltz clinched the sweep with the 30-24 home victory.
Daniel Levent (Forest Hills, N.Y./American Studies) led the visiting Bearcats with 10 kills, three digs, and two solo blocks.
Greg Waldvogel (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) had nine kills, 13 digs, two service aces, and two block solos.
Radek Wyrwas (Bialystok, Poland/Grover Cleveland) dished out 19 assists and eight digs, while Stephen Hansen (Hauppauge, New York/Hauppauge) notched seven kills and 10 digs.
Joshua Spiro (Island park, N.Y./West Hempstead) led New Paltz State (9-3) with 12 kills and eight blocks.
The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow night with a home conference match against City Tech. First serve in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
