The Bearcats suffered a 20-4 non-conference road loss to SUNY-Old Westbury on Thursday night in Westbury, Long Island.
The Bearcats started the game in the top of the first inning with a two-run single by Joseph Valentin (Co-Op, City, N.Y./Dewitt Clinton) to score David Chestnut (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) and Cesar Chaves (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison).
Old Westbury responded in the bottom of that inning with four runs to lead the rest of the way. Baruch could only get as close as 8-4 in the fifth inning.
Greg Polius (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Mary’s) and Anthony Avona (Staten Island, N.Y./Msgr. Farrell) each recorded an RBI.
SUNY-Old Westbury scored five runs in each of the seventh and eight innings to finish the big victory. They also used seven total pitchers in the game.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday with a 12:30 pm non-conference road doubleheader at SUNY-New Paltz.
