The 36th Annual Varsity Athletic Awards Dinner took place on Thursday evening, May 17th, in Room 14-220 of the Vertical Campus Building.

The dinner consisted of over 175 student-athletes, athletic staff & coaches, and VIPs such as President Kathleen M. Waldron, V.P. of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management Dr. Ben Corpus, and V.P. and Senior Athletic Women's Administrator Dr. Corlisse Thomas.

 
2006-07 Baruch Athletic Highlights
  • The athletic department won the CUNY Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup Trophy for the second year in a row. The trophy is awarded to the most successful athletic program among the CUNY senior colleges.
  • Overall, three teams finished first and four other varsity teams finished second in conference championships during the 2006-07 year.
  • For the second straight year, a Baruch student athlete was named the CUNY Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This year, Greg Waldvogel of men’s volleyball was named the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. (Last year, softball’s Kathy Maher was named Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.)
  • For the first time in school history, four varsity teams participated in a post-season tournament. The men’s soccer and men’s tennis team each played in the NCAA Tournament, while the men’s volleyball and women’s basketball team each played in the ECAC. 
  • The men’s tennis team became the first CUNY athletic program to win a post-season men's tennis match at the NCAA Tournament.
