Women's Tennis Celebrate Victory

Women's Tennis Defeats Rutgers-Newark (6-3)

The women's tennis team won their third straight match with an impressive 6-3 victory against Rutgers-Newark on Saturday afternoon in Newark, New Jersey.

The victory raises the team record to 7-2 overall, including a 4-1 record against non-conference opposition, while Rutgers-Newark drops to 8-5.

The visiting Bearcats earned the victory by taking two of the three doubles, followed by winning four of the six singles to wrap up the victory.

Mariam Mkrtchyan defeated her opponent in #3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, and teamed up with Irina Piskunova to easily win #2 doubles with the score of 8-2.

Shalanda Graham and Mariya Korobkova teamed up again to record an 8-1 victory in #3 doubles.

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday with a 4:00 pm conference road match at Brooklyn College.
