The third-seeded Baruch College Bearcats swept sixth-seeded John Jay College of Criminal Justice Bloodhounds in a CUNYAC quarterfinal match on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.
The Bearcats posted a 25-10, 25-15, 25-16 sweep to record their 17th win of the season, while the loss finishes John Jay’s season record at 8-23.
Baruch will advance to the semifinals on Friday to battle second-seeded Hunter College in a match scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Hunter Sportsplex.
The two winners of the semifinal matches will meet at 8:00 pm to contest the tournament championship and automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Nicole Baruffaldi led Baruch (17-19) with eight kills and seven digs, while Staren Soanes and Mayra Estepan each notched four kills.
Kristin Walker dished out 22 assists and three-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Posey Wilson had a team-high 12 digs.
Justyna Kopec and Andrea Medina led the Bloodhounds this evening with five kills each. Medina also contributed 11 digs.
