Pioneers Win Non-Conference Meet (Men: 106-81; Women: 111-76)

The men’s and women’s swimming teams lost to William Paterson University in a non-conference meet on Saturday in the ARC Aquatic Center.

William Paterson captured the victory with the men winning, 106-81 (victory in seven events), while the women recorded a 111-76 win.

For the Baruch men, freshman Idan Saragosti set the school and freshmen record in winning the 200 free and 100 breast meter events.

Junior R. Michael Shiwnath was victorious in the 100 back, while freshman Gustavo San Martin Dancourt placed a strong second in the 200 individual medley.

The Bearcats ended the meet victorious in the 200 free relay with Dancourt, Shiwnath, senior Camilo Reyes and Saragosti teaming up to set the school record.

For the Baruch women, freshman Priscilla Arana won the 800 and 400 free events, and in the process set the school and freshmen records.

Junior Jessica Penaherrera was second in the 100 fly, while junior Grace Kim earned second in the 100 back meter event.

The women also ended the meet on a high note with the 200 free relay team of sophomore Jia Feng, freshman Jheniffer Parker, Penaherrera and Arana setting the school record.

The men’s and women’s swimming teams will return to action on Tuesday with a 6:00 pm home CUNYAC meet against the College of Staten Island.
