The women’s softball team (10-6, 4-0 CUNYAC) had quite a busy and successful Sunday with three shutout victories and 36 total runs scored to stretch their winning streak to seven games.
 
On Sunday, the Bearcats won three conference games by sweeping John Jay College of Criminal Justice (4-0, 9-0) and defeating Medgar Evers College (23-0).

Freshman P Andrea Tepfer (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) won her sixth game by pitching a shutout with 10 strikeouts in the opening 4-0 victory against John Jay.

Baruch broke open a scoreless game with two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Sophomore SS Melissa Pena (Queens, N.Y./W.C. Bryant) batted 2-for-4, with a single and RBI triple in the fifth inning. Freshman Chrystal Sanchez (Bronx, N.Y./Mt. St. Ursala) had an RBI single in the sixth inning. 

In the second game against John Jay, freshman P Lynn Schiano (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) also recorded a solid pitching performance with a shutout, six strikeouts and only four hits allowed to help lead Baruch to a 9-0 mercy rule victory.

Senior Cynthia Duran (New York, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum) had the key hit with a three-run homer to help highlight a five-run, first inning for the Bearcats.

Seniors Sonia Sendoya (Queens, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum) and Lillian Gaton (New York, N.Y./J.F.K.) each had a single for two RBI.

In the final game of the afternoon against Medgar Evers (23-0), freshman 3B Ashley Brandow (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) batted a perfect 5-for-5, with a triple and grand slam for eight total RBIs.

Sophomore Idelissa Lluveres (Bronx, N.Y./Aquinas) and Gaton also hit home runs in the conference victory.

Sophomore Melissa Mejia (Queens, N.Y./W.C. Bryant) recorded the perfect game with nine strikeouts in five innings for the mercy rule victory.

The softball team will return to action on Tuesday with a single road game against the Bridges of Brooklyn College. First pitch on the campus of Brooklyn College will take place at 5:00 pm.
