The Bearcats lost a tightly contested non-conference doubleheader to Drew University on Sunday afternoon in Madison, New Jersey.

In the opener, the visiting Bearcats (16-16) were limited to a one run on an RBI single by Alexandra Orrico (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) to score Idelissa Lluveres (Bronx, N.Y./Aquinas) in the third inning. 

The home team Rangers (17-17-1) scored four runs on eight total hits, and broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the bottom of the third inning for a 4-1 lead, which served as the eventual final score.

In the nightcap, the Bearcats suffered an 8-5 loss in another tight contest against the Rangers from the Landmark Conference.

Drew scored three runs each in the second and fourth innings to lead 6-0, and went on to the 8-5 victory. The Bearcats scored five total runs in the last three innings, but it was not enough to overcome the early six-run deficit.

Six different players had a hit for Baruch, including doubles by Melinda Dolan (Staten Island, N.Y./St. John Villa) and Michele Runko (Middle Village, N.Y./Francis Lewis). 

The Bearcats will return to action this Tuesday with a 3:00 pm non-conference doubleheader at Manhattanville College.
