The Gothic Knights from New Jersey City University swept a doubleheader from the Baruch Bearcats on Thursday afternoon in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats (11-8) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first game, highlighted with a three-run double by Melissa Pena (Queens, N.Y./W.C. Bryant)
in the top of the second inning.

The lead eventually grew to 5-1 on Lillian Gaton's (New York, N.Y./J.F.K.) third home run of the season in the top of the third inning.

New Jersey City rallied to tie the game (6-6) and exploded in the sixth inning with six more runs on seven total hits, including a grand slam, to record the 12-6 non-conference victory.

Sonia Sendoya (Queens, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum) finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.

In the second game, pitcher Lacey Skowronski (Bayonne, N.J./Holy Family Academy
) kept the Bearcats bats quiet by going the full seven innings and allowing only two hits in the 7-1 victory.

Baruch scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning on Ashley Brandow's (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) solo home run (second of the season) to cut New Jersey City's lead to 2-1 at that point.

New Jersey City (10-10) would score two more runs in the bottom half of the fourth and three more in the sixth inning to preserve the home victory.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday afternoon with a 3:00 pm home conference doubleheader against rival Hunter College at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn (DIRECTIONS).
