Baseball Defeats Old Westbury State (11-6); David Chestnut Named CUNYAC Player of the Week

Box Score Update

The baseball team defeated the State University of New York at Old Westbury, 11-6, in a non-conference single home game played on Thursday afternoon at Bronx Community College.

The victory evens the team’s record at 5-5, while Old Westbury drops to 9-5 overall on the regular season.

The Bearcats, the home team at Bronx Community College, broke open the game to lead 8-0 after four innings. They led 11-3 entering the ninth inning, but Old Westbury State made the game interesting late with three run scored before losing by the eventual final score of 11-6.

Daniel Brudie pitched the victory by going eight innings with eight total strikeouts and three earned runs.

Arturo Ledesma hit a two run homer in the sixth inning to finish batting 2-for-4, with three RBI and three runs scored.

David Chestnut, the CUNYAC Player of the Week, had another solid game with a triple to score two runs in the fourth inning.

Thomas Daly had two singles and scored two runs, while Jorge Rosado batted 2-for-5, with an RBI double and two runs scored.

The Baruch Bearcats will return to action on Saturday with a non-conference road doubleheader against John Jay College of Criminal Justice. First pitch at the American Legion Complex in Brooklyn is scheduled for Noon.
