The women's tennis team won five of six singles and all three doubles to record an 8-1 non-conference victory against Rutgers-Newark on Saturday night at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.

The yearly match lasted four hours thanks to an exciting #6 singles marathon encounter between Alina Bero and Kelly Chung that ended past nine o'clock in tie breaker.

With the victory, the Bearcats extend their win streak to three matches for a 3-1 overall record on the season, while Rutgers-Newark drops to 1-6.

The women's tennis team will return to action on Tuesday, September 22, with a 3:30 pm home match at the U.S. National Tennis Center against rival Hunter College.
