Baseball Team Splits CUNYAC Doubleheader Against CCNY (Lose 7-0, Win 8-4)

The Bearcats and Beavers went on to split a CUNYAC baseball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at the American Legion Complex in Brooklyn.

The Beavers (11-11, 4-2 CUNYAC) won the first game with a 7-0 shutout, but the Bearcats (8-13, 3-3 CUNYAC) bounced back in the second game by winning, 8-4.

In the first game, CCNY recorded the shutout by limiting Baruch to eight total hits, while they scored seven runs on nine hits. The Beavers scored three runs in each of the first and second innings to jump out to a quick 6-0 lead to help record the victory.

In the second game, David Chestnut pitched the Bearcats to victory with a complete game effort (7IP, 3ER, 9HITS, 3K, 2BB) for the important 8-4 victory.

The CUNYAC contest was tied at 1-1 after five innings, but Baruch broke it open with seven runs on four hits in the top of the sixth inning to take the 8-1 advantage.

Peter Dinolfo had a double to drive in two runs and Manuel Guerrero hit an RBI single as part of the seven runs scored in the productive sixth inning.

Dinolfo finished batting 2-4, while Jules Ryan Alonzo batted 2-for-3, with a pair of singles in the victory.

The baseball team will return to action on Thursday, April 15, with a 4:00 pm non-conference single game at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. (Please note the game at Ramapo College on Wednesday, April 14, has been cancelled.)
