The women’s volleyball team swept the Fighting Blue Jays from the Polytechnic Institute of NYU in a non-conference match played on Tuesday evening in the tech section of Brooklyn, New York.

The Bearcats won their fifth straight match with scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-17 to raise their record to 15-8 overall, while NYU-Poly, the 2010 champions from the Skyline Conference, dropped to 15-13.

Jessica Wu, who was named again as the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, led the team with 11 kills (.333), while Lauren Hayden tallied eight kills (.375). Melinda Santiago was busy dishing out 30 assists and Posey Wilson totaled 23 digs on the defensive end.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, October 15, with a non-conference home match against Montclair State University from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

First serve on Alumni Homecoming Weekend is scheduled for 3:00 pm in the ARC Arena.
